This Seminar is designed for:

* Clinicians whose clients struggle with repeated failed relationships, or for clients in committed but unfulfilling relationships.

* Clinicians who want to help clients learn to prevent starting relationships that fail anyway.

* Clinicians who want to deepen their understanding of toxic relationship dynamics that are present but often overlooked

This seminar is open to mental health clinicians.

EMDR training is not required; the focus will be on Attachment Theory with elements of EMDR and CBT.

We know that the key to successful relationships is relational self-awareness; many clients simply never learned self-awareness and relationship fundamentals. To worsen matters, the realm of dating and relationships has undergone vast changes in the last several decades. Due to a variety of factors ranging from the effects of technology to increased stress and isolation, relationships are suffering.

As clinicians, we need to understand the ongoing changes in our clients’ lives and their effects, yet we don’t want to lose sight of the fundamentals that allow clients to form healthy and satisfying intrapersonal and interpersonal relationships.

The DATE SMART and LOVE MINDFULLY seminar provides you with an opportunity to augment your existing understanding of healthy relationship dynamics.  With current, research-backed statistics and interactive activities, this dynamic seminar supports your understanding of what it takes to help your clients form healthy, essential neural connections that support loving intrapersonal and interpersonal relationships.

Offered in a framework that interweaves core tenets of attachment theory, EMDR, CBT, and depth psychology, this powerful seminar provides essential insights and tools that will positively support and invigorate your work with clients.

Note: Participants do not need to practice any particular modality (e.g., CBT, EMDR, attachment theory, etc.) to benefit from this highly inclusive training. Given that the general highlights and benefits of various modalities are introduced, clinicians are encouraged to adopt the elements that feel most pertinent and beneficial for the population being served.

Suggested Reading*: DATE SMART: Transform Your Relationships and Love Fearlessly

*Note: We will reference the self-awareness and relationship exercises as well as other materials included in Date Smart during the seminar.

Upon completion of this workshop, the participant will be able to:

  2. Identify and distinguish the underpinnings of various psychotherapeutic modalities (e.g., CBT, EMDR, attachment theory, or depth psychology) to better understand the client’s intrapersonal and interpersonal relationship needs.
  3. Integrate the clinician’s own clinical education and background with other psychotherapeutic modalities to best serve the individual client’s goals and needs.
  4. Utilize clear case conceptualization to foster client healing and change.
  5. Recognize various elements of a client’s history that negatively affect dating and relationship patterns.
  6. Identify and describe the psychotherapeutic strategies (e.g., self-reflection, exercises, and real-life practices) that support positive change in clients’ lives.
  7. Demonstrate working knowledge of the various elements of healthy relationships including self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and attachment status.
  8. Utilize intrapersonal and interpersonal exercises to actively build, integrate, and demonstrate greater understanding of key intrapersonal and interpersonal dynamics.
  9. Appreciate and understand the implications of the everchanging, complex social and cultural issues that impact a client’s dating and relationship patterns.
  10. Demonstrate application of learned concepts to an aspect of a confidential clinical case study.
